Proti
A desktop pet that lives in the corner of your screen.
It types along with you and tells you to take a break after a long stretch.
Free · v0.8.0 · macOS 12 or later (Apple silicon, Intel) · Windows 10 or later
What it does
Types along
Every key you press, it taps the keyboard too. Type fast for long and it breaks a sweat.
Melts when you pet it
Rub it with the mouse and it likes it, then melts onto the floor.
Sleeps when you rest
After three minutes without input it falls asleep, and wakes when you move the mouse.
- Claude · site card editAll done
Tells you when an AI task ends
Connect Claude Code or Codex and it says which task finished, whether it needs an answer or permission, and when something went wrong.
- Seoul · Clear 18°Good morning
Greets you through the day
It says hello in the morning, at lunch and in the evening, and tells you about rain, snow or bad air in your city.
Changes shape
Pick Proti, a dog, cat, hamster, rabbit, bear or chick. You can change the color too.
- Focus timers of 25 and 50 minutes, and a break reminder every 50 minutes.
- It counts keys pressed, time working and AI tasks finished each day. That stays on your computer.
- Turn it on in settings and it wanders along the bottom of your screen and climbs a rope now and then.
- Turn it on in settings and it rides the window in front, following it around. Drag it away and it stays put.
- Hover over Proti and your pointer turns into a paw.
- You can drag it anywhere, and it hides below the screen when you watch something full screen.
- Settings live in the menu bar icon, or the taskbar icon on Windows.
Install
- macOS: open the downloaded file and drag Proti into your Applications folder.
- To use the typing reaction, turn on Input Monitoring. It never reads which keys you press, only how many.
- Windows: run the downloaded installer. The typing reaction needs no extra permission.
- If Windows protected your PC appears, click More info and then Run anyway.
Connecting AI tools
Open AI tools in the settings window and press connect for Claude Code or Codex. It adds a hook to that tool’s settings file (~/.claude/settings.json, ~/.codex/hooks.json) and keeps the original as a backup.
Proti receives only the session title and the outcome (finished, needs an answer or permission, something went wrong). It never receives your conversation. Everything stays on your computer, with no internet. Disconnecting puts the file back.
